Texas Instruments invented the hand-held calculator (a prototype called "Cal Tech") in 1967 and the single-chip microcomputer in 1971. Their first calculator, the Datamath, was first shipped in September 1972. They sold very popular programmable calculators like the Ti-57 and TI-59C and scientific models (TI-30). The company is still active in the market.
